We are seeking to recruit a hardworking self-starter with good negotiation skills. The Customs Clerk is expected to ensure all imported goods are processed and cleared through the HM Customs in the most economical and efficient way, and that systems and procedures are maintained to ensure smooth, efficient operation of the department. This position will report to the Purchasing Manager.
Duties will include:
- Prepare customs entries, duty entries, duty refunds and customs related duties
- Coordinate the transfer of goods
- Prepare warrants for export, embassies and ships
- Maintain computerized bond records
- Keep filed records for all customs related and internal administrative transactions
- Ensure the preparation of payment vouchers duties, freight, Port charges
- Assist with stock take and reconciliation
- Coordinate the appointments with customs for the un-stuffing of containers
Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- A minimum of five (5) CXC’s including English Language and Mathematics
- A qualification in Customs Procedures
- Good written and oral communications skills
- Problem solving skills
- Good computer skills – working experience in excel would be an asset
- Experience working as a Customs Broker or a Customs Clerk would be an asset
