We are seeking to recruit a self-motivated, meticulous candidate to join our team as a Purchasing Manager. The candidate’s primary objective is to ensure that the agreed level and mix of inventory is consistently available to support the sales requirements of the organization, while achieving set financial targets for inventory value, inventory turns, stock write offs and cash flow.
Duties will include:
- Monitoring the operation of the Company’s Customs Department to ensure availability of product to meet the needs of the internal customers.
- Locating manufacturers, agents or vendors of merchandise for resale, equipment and supplies.
- Ensuring that the Private Bonds and bond records are reviewed.
- Negotiations with suppliers to ensure that the most economical total cost of supply is obtained by the Company.
- Maintaining sound knowledge of market conditions influencing the availability and supply of merchandise.
- Collaborative management of supplier relationships and inventories.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- A degree in Accounting, Management or Supply Chain Management with at least two years’ work experience in a similar role.
- Strong proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and build a high performing team.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- A valid driver’s license.
The salary and benefits package for this position will be competitive, and will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications, experience and skills.
